In other news, the Vipers spring camp has been delayed by about a month. It will now be held May 30 to June 1. This is very late for a spring camp. Will there be any prospects left?
I think the point was more to emphasize that the total mismanagement of the team, over the past year especially, is why there weren’t enough players to run the camp. Hard to argue that point.
Firstly I would like to congratulate Ryan Watt on committing to U of Toronto, the original post. He was a good player for the Viper and appeared to give full effort on every shift. It is disappointing that he only was here for 15 games, clearly we could have used him for the whole season.
Secondly, I will comment on the comments, specifically "Anonymous" who asked how the camp could have been handled better. There really is only 2 scenarios why it would be postponed or cancelled:
1) The facility was not available or the staff could not commit to the original dates. That reason is hard to accept as those commitments would have been made far in advance. Probably not the case.
2) There was not enough interest from potential prospects to cover the costs, they simply have better options. I think this is the more plausible reason for the delay, and possible future cancellation. As mentioned on many other posts the high end players do not seem to have Vernon on their preferred place to play list. The hockey world is small and word gets around quickly, especially to families and advisors of aspiring young players. The promises not kept and the disrespect shown by this organization is not a secret or a one-off. I would guess that it is all coming back to bite them now. I hope I am wrong but considering the disaster we have been witnessing I think this is the more plausible reason for this camp.
Yes, I should have congratulated Ryan Watt on committing to U of Toronto. Post secondary school along with hockey is a great thing for our players. I just didn't see another way to post a newsworthy item on this site so I just posted it in the latest story. And the postponement of spring camp is a story.
Here's another one. Alberni has lost their home games in the second round of the playoffs due to an ammonia leak in their ice plant of their arena. The Bulldogs' home games against Chilliwack will be played in Nanaimo's Frank Crane arena. https://www.peninsulanewsreview.com/news/second-ammonia-leak-in-six-years-forces-arena-shutdown-in-port-alberni-7951150

Delayed because no one was coming!!! Just when you think they can't mismanage things more they do......
Out of curiosity, how would you manage that better? You don’t have enough to make up a camp.. what to do? And………..go

You say, No one was going to come, so that's why they moved it ahead a month?
These players booked to attend this camp many months ago but now a week before everyone decides not to go? Hmmmmm I don't think so
I would guess it has something to do with icetime or availability of the arena.
Noticed on bchl on instagram a lot of signings for next year by many bchl teams. Haven't seen anything from the Vipers yet...
The Vipers facebook page said, Spring Camp was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances
It was delayed because the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce Community Expo was held at the arena this weekend.
