New Recruit – Nicholas Remissong

Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of Nicholas Remissong.
Remissong is from Lake Forest and played last season with the Chicago Mission U18. He had 4 goals and 4 assists in 14 games played
“Nick is a heavy, powerful centre who is strong in all 3 zones,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.
Remissong was a teammate of Desmond Johnson who also recently committed to the Vipers.

McKee says he is a “heavy, powerful player”. Remissong appears listed at 5’11” & 170 pounds but perhaps he plays bigger than his stats indicate. I hope McKee is accurate in his scouting and not just trying to pump our tires. I am optimistic but after checking the stats for the new signees I hope they all hit the gym & the refrigerator over the summer. We will see...
Remissong has some size but didn't play a lot of hockey last season. Not knowing much about these new recruits, other then looking at stats and trying to find some info about them online, it's hard to get a good read on some of these new kids, until you see them hit the ice at training camp and get into some exhibition games. One thing I noticed was Remissong's teammate Desmond Johnson also didn't play much hockey last season. The Vipers sure have been busy the past few weeks announcing new players/committed players. I said it before, one thing I noticed about the new committed players, is they have some size and are big. There are a few kids that are going to have to hit the gym and put on a few pounds and bulk up. So far I like the looks of most of the new committed players, but until we see them in action at training camp or in game action, it can be hard to tell what kind of player you'll see on the ice in a Viper jersey. I'm hoping the Vipers make an announcement soon letting the fans know, who will be returning from last years team.
The heights and weights of players found on internet data bases are highly suspect and should be considered to be minimums. They could be one or two years out of date and these guys are teenagers, and they can grow a lot in one or two years. The stats for players that are being listed as recruits are probably just cut and pasted from eliteprospects.com.
