New Recruit – Griffen Barr
June 1, 2020
Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of Griffen Barr.
Barr is from Nanaimo and played last season with Shawnigan Lake School Prep. The 6’0, 190 pound defenceman had 5 goals and 37 assists in 36 games played.
“Griffen is a heavy defenceman that helps in all situations. He’s a right handed shot that is very important to us,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.
Barr was captain of his team last season.

Well for the first time this off season, we hear some roster news regarding the Vipers. I like the looks of this kid! I like his size and his numbers were good for prep school. I like the fact he also got into some games as an "AP" with the Nanaimo Clippers last season and got to get some experience playing Junior hockey. With only a possible four defencemen returning from last years team, Barr will be a welcomed addition. If I remember it was around the same time last summer when the Vipers first started making some roster news regarding committed players. Most teams across the league have been very busy this summer making several announcements regarding new/committed players. Really hope there is a season this coming year.

A couple of months ago I saw a post about Adam Flammang coming to Vernon but now I can't find anything on his whereabouts for this coming season. He's a highly sought after player and put up big scoring numbers over his high school career in Minnesota. He is committed to Bemidji State for 2021-22. We hope he's coming.
