I watched the Vipers game online this evening. The hometown Wenatchee Wild responded in Game 2 after a 3-0 loss in Game 1. The Wild were the better of the two teams, carried the better of the play, had more puck possession and played well defensively. Wenatchee forced the Vipers into making mistakes/turning pucks over and capitalized on two Vernon turnovers, resulting in goals. The Wild played very well in front of Daniel Chenard. I thought the Snakes struggled with and without the puck, didn't create or generate much for offence, looked like a different team that won Game 1. A much smaller crowd on hand tonight, compared to what the Wild usually get. The series is now tied 1-1 with Games 3 & 4 in Vernon Tuesday & Wednesday.

After the Buzzer – Vipers Comeback Falls a Goal Short in Game 2

Wenatchee, WA, USA: Matt Kowalski scored a late goal and the Vipers threw everything at the net in the final minute, but fell a goal short in a 2-1 loss to the Wenatchee Wild in game 2 of the best of seven series.
It was a chess match in the first period, with both teams feeling the other out. It didn’t lack in the chippy department as both teams engaged in post whistle scrums that typically resulted in both players going to the box. Brett Fudger had a good look on a deflection from the point that grazed the outside of the post.
In the second it was more of the same. Momentum slowed for the Vipers as they were forced into a couple of penalty kills. The PK as it was last night was stellar keeping it scoreless. The Vipers powerplay had a look, but surrendered a shorthanded goal as Brian Adams rifled home a shot on a 2 on 1 to make it 1-0. That seemed to motivate the home team who hemmed the Vipers in their own zone. A late shift saw Ethan Wolthers walk out from behind the net and score his first of the playoffs to make it 2-0 after 2 periods.
The Vipers rallied late as Matt Kowalski buried on a chance in the final minute with the goalie pulled. The Vipers would get Herbst to the bench again, but Daniel Chenard thwarted a last second chance to give the Wild the 2-1 lead and even the series at 1.
The series will now switch back to Vernon for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Jason Mckee, your four line needs to be re-defined. They should be a line that is defensive minded not about scoring goals and offence. They should be a line that causes havoc for the other teams first and second line. They should come out as a hard hitting ,punishing line, that gives our top scoring line a rest. The Jones boys where like that for our team back in the day. They where fourth line players to start. Everytime the first and second line had the puck they would punish them . Other teams new it was coming. This formula proved to be very successful and provided us with RBC CUPS. So again make the fourth line a punishing line,hard hitting and agressive , giving our first and second lines a break. They are not and shouldnt be looked at as scoring line. If they score great but that should be there roll as to make them otherwise,well offencesive type,they are not. Something to think about. GO, Vipers,GO.
