Chiefs add Cherkowski from Wenatchee Wild

December 2, 2019

The Chilliwack Chiefs announced today that they have acquired 2000-born forward Nicholas Cherkowski from the Wenatchee Wild. Cherkowski, a native of Vernon, BC, comes to the Chiefs with a commitment to Merrimack College and a season of BCHL experience with the Vernon Vipers (2018-19) and the Wenatchee Wild during the 2019-20 season.

Cherkowski is a 6’3, 190 pound right shot forward that will help the depth of the Chiefs forward group down the stretch of this BCHL season. “We are really happy to add Nick to our group today,” said Chiefs Associate Coach and AGM Brad Rihela. “Nick is a player that brings with him fantastic character, as well as a good ability to protect pucks and drive defenders back with his size and speed.”

Cherkowski is expected to arrive in Chilliwack early this week, and should join his teammates for practice Tuesday at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

This guy is an enigma... good kid, big guy, very good skater yet has difficulty scoring any goals or assists. He secured a scholarship before even becoming a regular BCHL player with Vernon. What does Merrimack College see that they signed him so early?
