Jagger Williamson returned to the lineup and promptly made his presence felt as he put up two goals in 16 seconds including the eventual game winner as the Vipers sunk the Rivermen 5-1 at Kal Tire Place.
Shooting percentages were looking really good in the first period as both teams scored on their first shots of the game as Eric Butte walked out of the left corner and sniped his 9th goal short side on Yamnitsky to make it 1-0 just 96 seconds in. The Vipers would parlay a 5 on 3 powerplay into a pair of goals as Jagger Williamson who returned to the lineup for the first time in 5 games, walked out to the high slot and buried his 18th to tie it up at 1. The captain wasn’t done as Williamson was set up again just 16 seconds later to make it 2-1. The Vipers didn’t have another shot for 3 and half minutes, but again they buried as Derek Brown was set up from behind the net to make it 3-1. Brown chimed in again as he ripped his second of the night on just the 4th shot of the game. Braedon Flemings night would come to an end as he was replaced by Chad Cromar. The period would conclude 4-1 in favour of the home side.
In the second period, the Vipers killed off an early Langley powerplay. The Vipers would end up on another 5 on 3 powerplay, but couldn’t convert. Defensively, the Vipers took away a lot of the Langley speed and it was played relatively defensive. The Vipers set up their fifth goal of the night as Jimmy Lambert crossed one for Brett Stapley and he finished it off for his 23rd of the year to make it 5-1 after two periods.
Things got a little rough in the third as a scary scene occurred as Keyvan Mokhtari was hit from behind into the boards. Thankfully he skated to the bench under his own power. The Vipers would end up on a 5 minute major powerplay, but frustrations spilled over as 5 Vipers and 4 Rivermen all tangled and were ejected. As the final horn sounded the Vipers came out on the right side of a 5-1 win over Langley.
The Vipers will hit the road for an interior division tilt in Penticton at the SOEC for a 6pm puck drop
