Taylor takes offer to play for Wildcats
February 20, 2018
It’s hard to imagine Ty Taylor’s sophomore BCHL season with the Vernon Vipers going any better than it has and the latest headline is that he’s locked up an NCAA future.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound netminder has committed to play at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and is currently slated to head off to school this fall.
Taylor has recorded a 22-5-3 mark this season and leads the BCHL in save percentage (.932) and goals-against average (1.83). With a league-leading seven shutouts this season, Taylor has matched a single-season league record as well.
At UNH, Taylor will join at Wildcats program that competes in the NCAA’s Hockey East conference along with Maine, Boston College, Vermont, Providence, Massachusetts, Boston University, Northeastern, UMass-Lowell, Merrimack and Connecticut. The Wildcats play on an Olympic-size ice surface and are coached by longtime bench boss Dick Umile, who is in his 27th season with the program.
BCHL alums on the Wildcats roster this season are Michael McNicholas, Adam Clark, Cam Marks, Dylan Chanter, Joe Sacco, Marcus Vela and Liam Blackburn.
Other current BCHLers committed to UNH are Angus Crookshank and Chase Stevenson.
