The Vernon Vipers Junior A Hockey Club are proud to announce that (96) Riley Brandt will be wearing the C for this season.
The 19 year old , soon to be 20 year old, forward from Trail is entering his 4th season in the BCHL and third with the Vipers. Brandt posted 15G and 16A in 53 GP with the Vipers last season and gradually assumed more of a leadership role down the stretch. He is no stranger to long playoff runs as he was a part of a national championship winning team in Beaver Valley in the KIJHL.
Brandt will be joined by 3 teammates to round out the rest of the leadership group.
Also wearing a letter will be 18 year old Lumby product, Jagger Williamson. Jagger is entering his 3rd season in the BCHL with the Vipers and continues to lead well beyond his years. The Michigan Tech commit tallied 6G and 21 A in 50 games in his sophomore campaign.
Hunter Zandee out of Kelowna will also wear an ‘A’ this season. Zandee is preparing for his 4th BCHL season and continues to lead by example with his hard work and physical style. Hunter scored 8 goals and 8 helpers last season.
Rounding out the leadership core will be second year forward Jimmy Lambert. Jimmy really excelled thanks to his speed and skill, but also his attention to detail. The Saskatoon native rang up 15 goals and 18 assists in just 49 games played. He will look to build on a fantastic rookie campaign, but also help the rest of the group in instilling a positive culture to the dressing room.
The leadership group this season will be heavily relied on to provide a positive environment on and off the ice”, says Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Vipers, Mark Ferner. “It’s a big responsibilty and honour for the 4 players selected and I’m confident they will be up to the challenge.”
The Vipers and their new leadership group get set to kick off the 2016-2017 regular season Friday night in Salmon Arm, before the home opener Saturday at Kal Tire Place against the Silverbacks.
