Barons Assign Former Viper Twins To East Coast Hockey League:

The American Hockey League (AHL) Oklahoma City Barons have assigned former Vernon Vipers forwards Kellen & Connor Jones to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Bakersfield Condors.

The Jones twins attended the Edmonton Oilers Training camp this year, also had a chance to play in Penticton, BC at the 2014 Young Stars Classic suiting up with the Edmonton Oilers prospects

The Jones twins finished their fourth and final season with the Quinnipiac Bobcats before signing their first semi-pro contract with the American Hockey League (AHL) Oklahoma City Barons on April 3rd 2014.

Connor and Kellen both played four years in Vernon (2006-2010).

In 163 regular season games with the Vipers. Connor collected (80-goals-118-assists-198-points) Connor also is the Vipers all-time franchise points leader (regular season & playoffs) with 228 & all-time franchise goals leader (regular season & playoffs) with 95.

Kellen played in 154 regular season games with the Vipers collecting (39-goals-134-assists-173-points). Kellen is also the all-time franchise assists leader (regular season & playoffs) with 150. Kellen was drafted in Round 7 of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft #202 overall by the Edmonton Oilers.

Five assigned to Bakersfield

CONDORSTOWN, Calif.- The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, announced today that five players have been assigned to the team from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Oklahoma City. The players assigned are D Graeme Craig, RW Mitch Holmberg, C Connor Jones, LW Kellen Jones, and LW Joshua Winquist. Connor and Kellen are twin brothers and would become the third set of twins to play together in a game in Condorstown in the past four seasons.

Bakersfield now has seven players in training camp under contract with either Edmonton or Oklahoma City.

CRAIG, stats, 21 years old, 6’5″, 203 lbs., Red Deer, Alberta

Made pro debut with Oklahoma City last season after wrapping up his Western Hockey League (WHL) career. Played 330 games over five seasons in the WHL with Swift Current, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert including appearing in the 2013 Memorial Cup with Saskatoon. Led the Blades in scoring by a defenseman with 15 points (1g-14a) in 59 games in 2012-13

HOLMBERG, stats, 21 years old, 5’10″, 174 lbs., Sherwood Park, Alberta

Joined the Condors during the 2014 playoff run and played three games
Last season, led the WHL in points (118), goals (62), and power-play goals (22) which included a league-high (tied) 10 game-winning tallies. Just the third WHL player since 2000 to record 60 or more goals in one season. Had a remarkable 296 points (147g-149a) in 314 career WHL games, all played with Spokane.

C. JONES, stats, 24 years old, 5’9″, 160 lbs, Montrose, British Columbia

Twin brother of Kellen. Played five games in the AHL with Oklahoma City last season. Had 129 points (49g-80a) in 153 games over four seasons at Quinnipiac University including leading the team in scoring with 41 points (13g-28a) in 37 games in 2011-12. Helped lead the Bobcats to the 2013 NCAA Frozen Four Championship game where they fell to Yale

K. JONES, stats, 24 years old, 5’9″, 165 lbs. Montrose, British Columbia

Twin brother of Connor. Selected by Edmonton in 7th round (#202 overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Played five games in the AHL with Oklahoma City last season with one assist. Recorded 127 points (53g-74a) in 158 games at Quinnipiac University

WINQUIST, stats, 21 years old, 6’0″, 180 lbs. St. Albert, Alberta

Made his pro debut with Oklahoma City, playing one game, last season. Had 93 points (47g-46a) in 67 games with Everett (WHL) in 2013-14, finishing 10th in the league in scoring. In 301 games over five seasons with the SilverTips, he amassed 101 goals and 115 assists for 216 points. Named to the 2013-14 WHL (West) Second-Team
