Former Viper Brookwell Released By Wolves, Picked Up By Gladiators:


Former Vernon Vipers defenceman, Cody Brookwell has been released by the AHL Chicago Wolves. The Wolves then sent Brookwell to the ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators earlier this week. Brookwell started his junior career in Vernon (2004-05) before being traded a month into the BCHL season to the Williams Lake Timberwolves. Brookwell played two seasons in Williams Lake before playing the next four seasons at the University of Denver.

Gladiators Add Two to Camp Roster

Duluth, GA - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced Monday that defenseman Cody Brookwell and forward Ryan Garbutt have been added to the training camp roster after being released by the Gladiators AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.

In addition, forwards Tom Bardis and Steve Moore were released from their Professional Tryout Agreements.

Brookwell, 24, spent the 2009-2010 season at the University of Denver, where the Calgary native tallied five points in 28 games to cap a four-year stint with the Pioneers.

Garbutt, 25, scored 22 goals to go along with 28 assists in the CHL with the Corpus Christi Icerays last season. Born in Winnipeg, Garbutt spent his four year college career at Brown, where he put up 58 points and 203 PIM in 116 games.
