The 13-17-2-0 Spruce Grove Saints are coming off a 8-4 loss Friday to the visiting Sherwood Park Crusaders. The Edmonton Mets relocated to Spruce Grove as the Spruce Grove Mets for the 1974–75 season. The Mets won the 1975 Centennial Cup. After three years in Spruce Grove, the franchise relocated to St. Albert to become the St. Albert Saints in 1977. After 27 years in St. Albert, arena issues caused the franchise to move to Spruce Grove as the Spruce Grove Saints in 2004. The Saints joined the BC Hockey League in February 2024. Tonight's the second game of a two game home stand. The Saints have lost five straight games and lost six of there last ten games. Flip a coin as tonight could be anybody's game as these two teams are very even in regards to the standings/records etc. The Saints & Vipers are fighting to get into the 8th and final playoff spot in the Interior Conference. As of today the Okotoks Oilers are holding down the final playoff spot. Spruce Grove is two points back of Okotoks, while Vernon is five points back of the Oilers. The Saints have lost ten of there last sixteen games, while the Vipers have lost eleven of there last sixteen games.
