I watched tonight's Vipers game on Flo Hockey. The Snakes with a poor 2nd period, give up four straight goals to fall behind 4-1 after opening the scoring. A very disappointing game/loss to last place Prince George. Within the past seven days the Vipers lose twice to teams below them in the standings. I didn't think Vernon generated enough shots or offence to come from behind. The Spruce Kings got some puck luck and had a couple of bounces go there way, that resulted in goals. With only ten games remaining, lets hope Monday's loss to Cranbrook and tonight's loss in PG don't come back to haunt the Vipers who are trying to catch Salmon Arm for 3rd and stay ahead of 5th place Trail. The Vipers & Spruce Kings will meet again Friday in Vernon.
From year 1 of the Jason McKee era to year 5 nothing much has changed. Everyone got excited after the first month but as we all teams grow and improve as a team. Instead of trying to get the players figure it out together we have a revolving door at the dressing room so no wonder there is no consistency. Take a look at the players who have been shipped out Maks Percic,Isaac Fecteau and Luke Buss are all thriving on their new teams and producing, Buss would be the leading goal scorer if he was still on the Vipers. Not sure why Colin Reay didn't get a start on a back to back but it sure would have been beneficial for him and the team.
I don’t think coaching is the issue here, this team has had issues with effort all season. As for the back end, goaltending has been great all season and I’m not sure how much more David or Reay is supposed to do to save this team no matter who is in net.
"This team has had issues with effort all season"??? With all due respect "Anonymous" who does this finger point to? In simple terms it is the "GM's responsibility" to sign the talent and the "Coach's responsibility" to put the players into a situation to use their talent, employ a system they can succeed in and motivate them to compete every time they hit the ice. McKee is both the GM & Coach and it is NOT being unfair to say that the teams "issues with effort" fall on his shoulders. The long time fans have questioned this for years, McKee is simply not able to put a team together and have them play consistently up to their billing. This also answers why he has a revolving door of players. As mentioned, many of his cast off players are thriving with their new teams. What kind of team could we have had if we had a "Fred Harbinson type" talent directing the team? Do responsible employers put up with mediocrity in the real world or make the necessary changes?
AAAAA, I see the "Smoke and Mirrors" is wearing thin, no, I won't say it, Oh hell ya I will, told ya so!
