No official press release from the Vernon Vipers. The Vipers have two goaltenders listed on their current roster (17 yr old Roan Clarke & 18 yr old Koen MacInnes).

Grant was an affiliated player with the Vipers last season playing in one game posting a 6.00 GAA. In 5 pre-season games this year at the Okanagan Cup, Grant went 1-4 allowing 18 goals in five games.

I liked Kobe Grant. I thought both goaltenders played fairly well at the Okanagan Cup given how young they were and neither having any junior hockey experience. I thought Roan Clarke was the better of the two netminders. I'm sure Grant will end up on a Junior A team real soon. I think the Vipers made a big mistake by not starting the season with at least one older/veteran goaltender.

Koen MacInnes is suppose to return to the Saskatoon Blades after the Christmas break. I have heard James Porter, Jr will be returning to the Vipers in the near future. Porter, Jr is with the Spokane Chiefs but currently practicing/skating with the Wenatchee Wild.

If Porter Jr. is able to get past Canadian Border Services and rejoin the Vipers, and MacInnes goes back to Saskatoon, it would settle the goaltending with a solid veteran and a good younger guy in Clarke. The team currently has five twenty year olds and they are allowed six. Porter would fill out that to six.

But Porter is an American. The team currently has six Americans, the maximum. Arquiett, Remissong, Tonelli, Tonelli, Duerr, and Kent. So somebody would have to leave.

Incidentally, Logan Lorenz and Riley Appelt have moved from the Reserve Roster to the Active Roster, meaning, I think, that they are healed and ready to play. Lorenz, in particular, I want to see. He put up 78 points in just 33 games in Alberta U18 last year. The Vipers need offense and he might help. I hope he's put on a few pounds.

So only Jordan Tonelli remains on Reserve. Counting him, the Vipers have 16 forwards still with them and 8 defense with 2 goalies. 26 players. I believe the roster this regular season will be 23. Correct me if that's wrong. So it means 3 cuts are coming, with one being an American.

I think there is a chance that the Tonelli"s could be "Dual", as their dad was born in Ont....also pretty sure the roster sizes have been increased, as I don't think the Bchl wanted APs going in and out of Cohorts. The way cases are increasing, the season is looking more and more in Jeopardy !

I have heard James Porter, Jr has dual citizenship

Yes, that could be. I also now recall that another recruit had dual citizenship. Johnson? Remissong? Cavan? It would be a good idea if the league increases the roster to 26 or so. Maybe the only movement will be MacInnes out and Porter in.

I have heard Josh Prokop & Tyler Carpendale won't be going back to the Western Hockey League and will be staying with the Vipers for the season.
