Vipers lose Chris Jandric for Game 7

Chris Jandric is out. Sol Seibel is in. Other than that, it’s business as usual, says Vernon Viper head coach/GM Mark Ferner as the Snakes prepare to face the Penticton Vees tonight in Game 7 of the B.C. Hockey League Interior Division final series.
“We’re going down there the same time,” said Ferner. “We’ll watch some video and take the same approach. There was just as much pressure on our guys in Game 6 so they know the importance of this game.”
Jandric and Penticton’s Chris Klack were given fighting majors and game misconducts with with 37 seconds left in Vernon’s 5-1 victory before 3,158 fans Saturday night at Kal Tire Place. They were each suspended for tonight’s game at the South Okanagan Events Centre under the league’s second-fight rule. Viper D Shane Kelly and Penticton F Taylor Sanheim received the first fighting majors on the play.
“It’s lousy,” said Ferner. “It was really a wrestling match but the referees wrote it up as a fight.”
Jandric, 18, of Prince George, rang up two goals and 21 points in the regular season, adding five assists in the playoffs.
Klack, 19, of Georgetown, Ont., compiled 13 goals and 47 points in the regular season. The Clarkson Golden Knights’ commit has 2-9-11 in the post-season.
Seibel, 17, of Kamloops, will make his playoff debut. The rookie D had eight assists in the regular season.
“Sol will be our sixth defenceman and we’ll spot him where we need him,” said Ferner. “You can’t go with just five defencemen.”
The Vees will likely dress 15-year-old F Massimo Rizzo, who racked up 190 points in two years with Burnaby Winter Club Midgets/Bantams.
Winner of Game 7 wins the Ryan Hadfield Memorial Trophy and advances to the Fred Page Cup final series against the Chilliwack Chiefs.
Penticton hosts the Western Canada Cup, April 29-May 7. The top-two teams move to the Royal Bank Cup, 13-21, in Couburg, Ont.
Vernon and Penticton will meet in Game 7 for the third time in four seasons, with Vernon winning in overtime in 2014 (Michael McNicholas winner) and Penticton prevailing 2-0 in 2015 (Patrick Sexton goal).
Chilliwack hosts the opening two games of the league’s final series Friday and Saturday nights at Prospera Centre.
