Robertson Adds Veteran Experience-Leadership To A Young-Injured Vipers Lineup:

This week the Vipers aquired veteran 20 yr old defenceman and former captain Sean Robertson from the Victoria Grizzlies in a trade I really like. Before picking up 20 yr old forward and former Okotoks Oilers captain, Ben Gamache the Vipers who were going with just three twenty year olds went with a very young roster-lineup this season, basically going with just two twenty yr olds after captain Patrick McGillis has been out for most of the season due to injury.

Within a few weeks the Vipers have brought in two veteran 20 yr old former captains (Ben Gamache and Sean Robertson) wich will add scoring, defensive help as well as that veteran experience and leadership on and off the ice. The Vipers who with a young team I think have struggled this season with injuries as well as missing their captain and not having those veteran guys on and off the ice.

With Victoria making a trip to Vernon just once a season I dont really know much about the former Grizzlies captain. The Vipers who went with a young defence needed a veteran d-man or two to help bolster the blueline. With Luke Juha out with an injury the Vipers defence has struggled latley and the addition of Robertson will help. I still think the Vipers need another veteran 19 or 20 yr old defenceman.

One thing that I dont understand about this trade is the actual trade. The Vipers sent 20 yr old forward, Jarryd Ten Vaanholt to Victoria in mid September for future considerations. The Vipers who needed some scoring traded away a veteran 20 yr old who put up 50 pts last year with Salmon Arm. For one I was surprised the Vipers traded Ten Vaanholt and to just get future considerations (Pearce Eviston) in return I dont think was a great trade. Now after picking up Robertson the Vipers gave up the rights to former Viper, Zach McPhee and still may have to give up one-two players next season. If all the Vipers got in return for Ten Vaanholt was (Pearce Eviston) who probally will never play for Vernon, then I dont understand why the Vipers have to return two-three players back to Victoria for Robertson. This seems a little steap in my mind.

Id like to welcome Sean to Vernon and looking forward to watching him make his Vipers debut Friday.
