Steelheads Sign Former Viper Forward Beller:

The ECHL Idaho Steelheads have signed former Vernon Vipers forward, Greg Beller. Beller played one season in Vernon (2007-08) playing in 23 regular season games collecting (10-10-20). Beller left Yale University during the 2007-08 season joining the Vernon Vipers midway through the regular season. Beller has played the last four years with the University of Manitoba Bisons. Beller was selected by New York Rangers in round 6 #178 overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Boise, Idaho – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced Monday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with rookie forwards Kyle Reed and Greg Beller.

The 24-year-old Reed made his professional debut with the Steelheads in March following the conclusion of his college career at Ohio State. In four games, Reed had an assist and earned high marks for his skating speed. He had 22 goals over four seasons with Ohio State. The Calgary, Alberta, product has family in the Boise area including his uncle, Gerald Bell, who competed in track and field at Boise State and is now an administrator in the Boise School District.

Beller, also 24, is turning professional after completing his college career at the University of Manitoba in Canada. In three seasons at Manitoba, Beller scored 13 goals and added 23 assists. Prior to attending the University of Manitoba, Beller played two seasons at Yale University and one season of junior hockey for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League. He was a sixth-round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
