Bourne named Subway BCHLPOW

Nanaimo Clippers forward Josh Bourne has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 1.

The Clippers’ regular-season leading scorer is on fire to start the Shaw BCHL Playoffs as he’s tallied eight points over his team’s first two games to lead all players in scoring.

In Game 1 of Nanaimo’s opening-round series against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday, the 20-year-old forward contributed a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and also added an assist as his team skated to a 6-3 victory. He was named the game’s second star.

The following night, Bourne had a five-point night, scoring once and adding four helpers and was named first star as the Clippers beat the Bulldogs 6-3 for the second night in a row.

Bourne has three goals and five assists through his first two games of the postseason.

Former Vernon Vipers forward Josh Prokop will be out of the Calgary Hitmen lineup for three weeks with an upper-body injury.

Prokop is in his second season with the Hitmen. In 57 games this season Prokop has (15-goals-21-assists-36-points).

Prokop was in his second season with the Vipers, left the team September 26th 2018 for the Western Hockey League. Prokop was drafted by the Swift Current Broncos had his rights traded to Calgary November 25th 2017. In 54 games with the Vipers Prokop collected (22-goals-19-assists-41-points)

Here are the Vipers-Wild highlight's from Game 1 of the opening round of the BCHL Playoffs. The Vipers got goals from three different goal scorers (Connor Sleeth, Ryan Shostak & Connor Marritt) were outshot 30-17 but lead in all three periods. Reilly Herbst made 30 saves for the win/shutout, while Daniel Chenard made 14 saves in the loss as Vernon took Game 1 3-0 in front of 2,036 fans at the Town Toyota Center.
