I watched the Vipers-Saints game tonight on FloHockey. This was an entertaining hockey game. Both teams were pretty even in the 1st period but the Vipers had the better of the opportunities. Spruce Grove had a slight edge in play in the 2nd period and had lots of quality chances. The Vipers couldn’t seem to generate much offence that period. The hometown Saints were the better team in the first half in a much slower period with lots of whistles. The Saints carried and controlled the better of the play in the first half as the Vipers struggled in their own end. Vernon would eventually tie game before scoring two more and playing their best hockey of the night to finish the game. Both goaltenders played well. This was the Snakes first regular season win in Spruce Grove in franchise history. After starting this road trip with three straight losses, Vernon finishes the road trip with two straight wins. One thing I noticed on this Alberta road trip is the small crowds these teams get. A very small crowd Friday in Sherwood Park and another small crowd tonight in Spruce Grove.
