I watched tonight's game on FloHockey. Vipers played very well in the 1st period in a period that was pretty even. The Smoke Eaters were the better team in the 2nd period as Trail outplayed the Vipers in the middle frame. Vipers got into penalty trouble, were outplayed, outscored, outshot, didn't look good. Both teams were even at times in the 3rd with Trail having an edge in play at times. The Vipers had a couple of very good looks/opportunities early in the 3rd but couldn't capitalize. It seemed like every time the Snakes got to within a goal, the Smokies quickly regained the two goal lead. The Vipers make it close late but fall short.

The Smokies showed no class late in the game and at the end of the game. Erik Pastro scored into an empty net and went over the top in his celebration, skating around, pumping his fists, yelling and screaming, jumping around and then at the end of the game, the Smoke Eaters were celebrating and rubbing it into the Vipers, waving goodbye, making gestures.

Including the preseason, Trail is 4-0 vs the Vipers

The Snakes have played ten of their last thirteen games on the road

The Vipers have one win in their last ten games

Vernon has lost seven straight road games

Vipers didn't play anywhere near sixty minutes and need to be more disciplined. Penalties and a poor 2nd period cost the Vipers tonight. Will Sebastian Bradshaw get suspended?

I listened to the game on radio. I think the Vipers were the better team when playing 5 on 5 penalty troubles got us again. It's frustrating were losing so many close games.

I understand this is an opinion blog but sometimes opinions are given without the benefit of information. Just to shed some light on eriks celebration...he was very excited about putting up some points and getting a big win against a division rival. All game matt cooke was chirping him...incredibly immature and unprofessional in my opinion. At the beginning of the game petruk threatened erik with autoshedding the gloves against a kid that doesn't fight...classy. again...this is in pregame warm up. Then he takes a high crosscheck from another classy player who gets tossed. So you can defend the "classy" team that cook has assembled in his likeness but I get why trail was very happy with the win and erik was pumped at the end...they stick up for each other

we need to stay focused and not fall into the trap of having the others teams coaching staff coax us into a penalty situation so they can have the advantage. Lets face it the coastal teams used to be notorious for using that tactic. We need to play smarter and learn to walk away and let the other team take the penalties so the vipers can have the advantage of scoring goals. GO,VIPERS,GO.
