On April 29th 1956 The Vernon Canadians won the Allen Cup Canadian Senior Hockey Championship at the Vernon Civic Arena, defeating the Chatham Maroons four games to one.
About fifteen years ago I worked with a fellow that was doing some house cleaning and come across a program from the final game when Vernon won the Allen Cup. He was not a hockey fan but did remember going to that game as a young kid with his parents. Why he still had this program he wasn't sure. His wife was going to put it into recycling when he saw it and brought it into work and gave it to me. A very rare and cool piece of hockey memorabilia to have. The program is in good shape considering it's age and I pull it put every now and again to look through it
