The Kelowna Rockets have signed Assistant Coaches Travis Crickard and Kris Mallette each to a two-year contract extension.
Last Sunday Mallette and Crickard both ended their third season as assistants with the Rockets. The tandem has been coaching with the club since the start of the 2014-2015 season. They won the WHL Championship that year and fell one goal short of a Memorial Cup.
The two have coached in a total of 216 regular season games with Kelowna boasting a regular season record of 146-55-14-1. They’ve also added 54 WHL playoff games with a record of 34-20.
The pair now has veteran coaching experience which Rockets management feels can only benefit the club. General Manager Bruce Hamilton says the two young coaches deserve the extension.
“With Jason (Smith) being signed for two more seasons I wanted to get these two signed as soon as I could as well,” Bruce said. “These two have definitely earned it and we look forward to the next couple of seasons with these guys behind the bench.”
The coaches have been re-signed to a two year contract extension, extending through the 2018-2019 season.
