The Vernon Vipers make their first and only appearance of the regular season to the Hap Parker Arena.  Tonight is the first game of a four game road trip.  The Vipers come into tonight's contest sitting in 2nd place in the Interior Division just two points back of Penticton & West Kelowna (both tied for 1st place) The Vipers come into tonight's game riding a four game winning streak and have won six of their last eight games.  Vernon's last win in Powell River was six years ago, a 6-4 victory back on October 19th 2007.  Since 2003-04 the Vipers have just two wins in Powell River.  Mason Blacklock is second in league scoring with twenty two points.

The Powell River Kings return home tonight after a four game road trip where they went 3-0-0-1 The Kings have won nine of their last ten games and sit atop the BCHL standings first overall.  Tonight is the first game of a ten game home stand for Powell River who has lost just once on home ice.  The Kings are second in the league with goals for and goals against.  Powell River has won five straight at home over Vernon since the 2007-08 season.
