KAMLOOPS, BC – The Kamloops Blazers are pleased to announce the addition of 18-year-old defenseman and Kamloops Minor Hockey product Matt Cumming in a trade with the Prince George Cougars today. The Cougars will receive a conditional 7th round selection in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft in return. “We’re excited to bring a local kid into our organization,” says Vice-President and General Manager Craig Bonner. “Matt has gained a good deal of WHL experience in his first two seasons in the league. We are expecting him to have a strong training camp and compete for a spot on this year’s team.” Cumming has played a total of 86 WHL games in two seasons with the Cougars, recording 5 assists.

Matt Cumming played with the Vernon Vipers back in the 2007-08 season. In 20 games with the Vipers Cumming recorded 1 assist. Cumming left the team that year in November to join the WHL Prince George Cougars who owned his playing rights.

Cumming now joins former Vernon Viper forward, Mark Hall who is also with the Blazers.
