Goaltending Key In Conference Finals:


With the Interior Conference Finals starting this weekend one of the key’s to this series will be goaltending. The Vernon Vipers & Salmon Arm Silverbacks have two of the best goaltenders in the BCHL with veteran’s Andrew Hammond & Bryan Gillis. Andrew Hammond was the league’s best goaltender with a goals against average of 2.30 Hammond played in 43 games this year with the Vipers with a 27-12-1 record, recording five shutout’s and a save percentage of 91.22% Hammond has secured a scholarship to Bowling Green University wich will take place next season. Hammond was named the Vipers MVP & BCHL All-Star playing in this year's BCHL All-Star Game. In 5 games in this year’s BCHL Playoffs Hammond is 4-1 with a 1.94 GAA and a 92.70% In 10 regular season meetings between the Backs Hammond went 4-4 with one shutout. Bryan Gillis played in 37 games this year with Salmon Arm with a 22-13-1 record and a 2.83 GAA along with a 90.60% Gillis in five Playoff games has a record of 4-1 with a 3.17 GAA and a 90.96% In 10 games vs Vernon during the regular season, Gillis went 5-5 Games 1 & 2 go Friday & Saturday in Vernon.
