Pontiacs Add Ex Vernon Viper Ross To Roster:

The Alberta Junior Hockey League Bonnyville Pontiacs have added

former Vernon Vipers forward Bronson Ross to their roster. No official press release from the Pontiacs but Ross is on the Pontiacs roster.

Former Viper Skirving Makes Royals 2024-25 Season-Opening Roster:

The ECHL Reading Royals have announced their 2024-25 season-opening

roster. Former Vernon Vipers forward Todd Skirving is one of twenty three players to make the Royals season-opening roster.

Skirving is in his first season with the Reading Royals. The Royals signed Skirving July 29th 2024.

Skirving split the 2023-24 season with the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers & ECHL Florida Everblades. Skirving and the Everblades won the 2024 Kelly Cup.

Skirving spent the past five seasons with the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers before joining the Everblades in April 2024. The Everblades signed Skirving April 6th 2024. The Royals are Skirvings seventh team in seven years.

The League’s Board of Governors voted to terminate the Membership of the Newfoundland Growlers, effective immediately, for failure to fulfill its obligations under the ECHL Bylaws. The ECHL and Professional Hockey Players’ Association have agreed that as per the ECHL/PHPA Collective Bargaining Agreement, all ECHL Contracted Players on the Newfoundland roster are Unrestricted Free Agents, however no ECHL Member may sign more than two (2) Players from the free agent pool of Newfoundland Players. Any Player from this pool who signs and finishes the Season with a new ECHL Member for the balance of the 2023-24 Season shall be ineligible for that Member's Protected List and shall become an Unrestricted Free Agent at the conclusion of the 2023-24 Season.

Skirving didn't play professional hockey during the 2020-21 season as the Growlers decided to opt out of the 2020-21 season under the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension Policy. Skirving spent the 2020-21 season as an Assistant Coach with the BCHL expansion Cranbrook Bucks. Skirving and the Bucks went 3-16-0-1 during the 2020-21 pod season.

Skirving played four years at Rochester Institute of Technology from 2013-2017 before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Orlando Solar Bears August 3rd 2017. Skirving spent the 2017-18 season playing with Orlando, Utah and Atlanta before signing a professional contract with the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers October 16th 2018.

Skirving committed to the Vernon Vipers for the 2010-11 season. Skirving played with the 2010-11 Vernon Vipers. The Vipers traded Skirving and future considerations to the Prince George Spruce Kings January 10th 2011 for Ryan Renz. In 34 games with the Vipers, Skirving collected (4-goals-5-assists-9-points).

Condors Sign Ex Viper Swetlikoff:

The American Hockey League Bakersfield Condors have signed former

Vernon Vipers forward Alex Swetlikoff.

Swetlikoff split the 2023-24 season between the ECHL Savannah Ghost Pirates & American Hockey League Henderson Silver Knights.

In 19 games last season with the Silver Knights, Swetlikoff collected (3-goals-0-assists-3-points). In 24 games last season with the Ghost Pirates, Swetlikoff collected (8-goals-13-assists-21-points).

Swetlikoff played parts of four seasons with the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets & Everett Silvertips before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Henderson Silver Knights August 19th 2022. The Ghost Pirates claimed Swetlikoff off waivers from the Silver Knights October 10th 2022.

Swetlikoff attended the Las Vegas Golden Knights Development Camp in July 2022.

Swetlikoff played parts of two seasons in Vernon with the 2017-18 & 2018-19 Vernon Vipers. Swetlikoff left the Vipers December 18th 2018 for the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets. The Rockets acquired Swetlikoff's rights from the Lethbridge Hurricanes December 6th 2018. In 78 games with the Vipers, Swetlikoff collected (11-goals-23-assists-34-points).

Game Recap - Penticton Vees 5 Vernon Vipers 4 Overtime

I was born and raised in Vernon, BC and been watching/following Junior hockey in Vernon my whole life. My family watched Senior men's hockey in Vernon in the 1950's and has been watching Junior hockey in Vernon since it started in 1961. I have two family members that played Junior hockey in Vernon. I have had season tickets since 1990 missing only 40 home games. Since 2001 I have missed 10 home games. I started and created this blog in November 2008 and have over 3 million viewers. For anyone who couldn't watch or attend tonight's Vipers game, here are my thoughts and views from tonight's hockey game. You may agree or disagree, but we all have our own opinion on the hockey game and see things differently. I try to be professional and give a fare game recap from both sides. I was at tonight's game between the Vernon Vipers & Penticton Vees as the Vees defeated the Vipers 5-4 in overtime in front of 2,756 fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Game Recap - Vernon Vipers 4 Salmon Arm Silverbacks 0

I was born and raised in Vernon, BC and been watching/following Junior hockey in Vernon my whole life. Lansdell is entering his second season with the  ECHL Florida Everblades.

Lansdell split the 2023-24 season with the University of Nebraska-Omaha & the ECHL Florida Everblades. Lansdell started the 2023-24 season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Florida Everblades April 1st 2024.In 6 games with the Everblades last season, Lansdell collected (2-goals-0-assists-2-points). Lansdell and the Everblades won the 2024 Kelly Cup. 

Lansdell played four seasons at the University of Notre Dame from 2019-2023.

Lansdell played parts of three seasons with the Vernon Vipers from 2016-2019. The Vipers traded defenceman Mitch Oliver October 15th 2016 to the Chilliwack Chiefs for Jesse Lansdell. In 127 games with the Vipers, Lansdell collected (31-goals-60-assists-91-points).

Pirates Sign Vipers Alumni Williamson:

The HC Eppan Pirates have signed former Vernon Vipers

forward/captain Jagger Williamson.

The HC Eppan Pirates are an ice hockey team in Eppan, Italy. They play in the Serie A, the top level of ice hockey in Italy.

Williamson played the 2023-24 season with Corsaires de Nantes. The Corsaires de Nantes (English: Nantes Corsairs) are an ice hockey team based in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, France. In 22 games, Williamson collected (16-goals-14-assists-30-points).

Williamson committed to Michigan Tech University for the 2019-20 season, but ended up signing a professional contract with the Federal Prospects Hockey League Columbus River Dragons for the 2019-20 season. Williamson broke his leg in his first ever game with the River Dragons, missing the entire 2019-20 season.

Williamson played five seasons in Vernon from 2014-2019. In 233 games with the Vipers, Williamson collected (54-goals-119-assists-173-points).

Williamson and former Vernon Lakers/Vernon Vipers forward Garth Gartner hold the franchise record for most games played with 233 games each. Gartner played four seasons in Vernon from 1994-1998 with the Vernon Lakers & Vernon Vipers. The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.
