Players Leaving Teams:

On November 7th 2024 the NCAA Division 1 Council approved players with Canadian Hockey League experience to compete at US colleges starting next season. The BCHL has had a huge amount of players leaving teams for other leagues.

I wanted to know what teams have been affected the most, so I went to the league website to find out.

Here is a list of all twenty one teams and how many players have played for each team this season. This according to the league website.

Interesting that some of the top teams have much less player movement that those at the bottom.

What you don't have here is why they left, did they leave….
1. on their own terms
2. because they were released by team
3. traded within our league
4. went to CHL teams
5. went to US teams
6. went to Canadian Junior teams
7. went to University teams
…to name just a few questions on why.

Also, if players from our league are going somewhere else, they would be taking a spot from another player. Those other players have to go somewhere. Some of them came to our league.

I am sure the NCAA rule was fast tracked big time because of the changing landscape of junior hockey in Canada ie: BCHL.

Will be interesting to see what will happen next season. It has been rumoured that the BCHL is in panic mode to stay relative, in the changing landscape, for the near future.

left, then came back, like a player for Chilliwack.

These numbers are shocking:

Maybe a more important statistic or question should be "how many current BCHL players secured a scholarship since joining this league? The answer should not include WHL players or players who came to the league with scholarships already in place. A pure number is "who was scouted and committed since coming to play here.

The BCHL used to be one of the elite Junior A leagues in Canada and one of the main recruiting leagues for NCAA scholarships. This is certainly no longer the case. It also showcased elite BC players so they could get further opportunities. This too is certainly no longer the case, it appears as if Vernon has only two BC players. Good BC players are going elsewhere to play and hopefully be scouted, in face it appears as if all elite players have much better opportunities than in the BCHL.

As I posted previously "I think this league is in big trouble unless they can re-discover some form of stability. Yes, NCAA rules changes are a factor but it all really started with the severing of ties with Hockey Canada by this league." What is the BCHL's Mission Statement? I think they have lost a lot of credibility and will find recruiting very difficult. It will be interesting what decisions the league Directors make going forward.

Wow all you so called Vipers long time fans bash the team about all the players that are coming and going. I see we have not had the most moves in the league. As you all run your mouths. I think you should all fack check. As all i read is you blame the coaches and the owners?

Wow. Look at the stats . Every team in this new leaque has had an average of 30 or more player transactions. This seems to be the new norm. I would suggest if this continues this leaque will be a thing of the past. We should have stuck with hockey canada as at least we could have tried for a national championship which was exciting opposed to yahoo I won a interior championship. Wahoo. BORING. Go Vipers go.

Those numbers are wild but the initial roster has 25-27 players so up to 30-33 on this list indicates about 5 or so guys moving in and out. That seems completely reasonable. When you get to the 40s and 50s it’s a circus. From a player’s perspective, how could commit to Vernon or BF with that kind of turnover?

No most teams have not averaged 30 or more player transactions. The numbers given include the original 26 rostered players. You need to subtract 26 from the number given to get transactions for each team.

Need to change their rules and have realistic earlier trade and player movement deadlines as the BCHL has turned into a revolving for tough on the players and hard to follow for fans. New players arriving weekly late into thd season. Move the player movement date back to early January and this will help them stay relevant and can then be taken seriously. Imagine having your players full of anxiousness pretty much thd entire season! It would make teams hire good coaches and get away from this GM Coach combo it is the worst system for releasing a poorly performing GM which is your coach or Vice Versa! #broken
