I watched the Vipers game on flo hockey but had to listen to the game on the radio for the first fifteen minutes as flo hockey was having some technical difficulties. The Vipers fell behind 2-0 but I thought played well and held there own in the 1st period vs a very good Smoke Eaters team. Vernon was getting pucks to the net and creating opportunities but couldn't capitalize. I thought both teams were fairly even in the 2nd period but it seemed as if Trail slowly got there game going and slowly starting coming on in the second half. The Smokies with two goals basically put the game away as it was 4-1 heading into the 3rd. The Smoke Eaters then blew the game wide open, were up 7-1 at one point before the Snakes would get two of there own. Trail has won eleven straight games for the first time in franchise history and has one loss in there last seventeen games.
For a Vipers team that is fighting for a playoff spot, they sure aren't doing anything about it. One win in there last six games, three wins in there last ten games, three wins in there last fourteen games and six wins in there last twenty games. This season has been a complete disaster and one of Vernon's worst teams in franchise history. This team is simply not good enough and won't make the playoffs. A very disappointing season.
The Vipers with a quick turnaround host the Brooks Bandits tomorrow afternoon. The Bandits are coming off a 6-1 loss tonight in Penticton and will be playing there third game in three days.
