Vernon Vipers' goaltender Gordon Graeme has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's final Player of the Week for the 2009/10 season, the league announced Monday.
Graeme put forth a pair of stellar performances in Vernon's semi-final and championship victories at the 2010 RBC Cup in Dauphin, MB last week. On Saturday, the North Vancouver, B.C. product stopped all 20 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win over the Brockville Braves.
24 hours later, Graeme made 23 saves in the Vipers' 8-1 victory over the Dauphin Kings. While his team won by a comfortable margin, the 21-year old made a series of outstanding saves in the second period that led to Vernon's go-ahead goal and the offensive outburst that it triggered.
Graeme's four wins and 2.40 goal-against average led all starting netminders at the event and he allowed just six goals in four games following a 6-5 overtime loss to Dauphin in the tournament opener.
