Dec. 14, 2012
BOSTON - Junior defenseman Garrett Noonan (Norfolk, Mass.) of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named an assistant captain for the remainder of the 2012-13 season, head coach Jack Parker announced on Friday.
"I'm happy to announce the appointment of Garrett to assistant captain, joining captain Wade Megan and assistant captain Ryan Ruikka," said Parker. "He's been great as a member of our team's leadership council and his leadership role in the dressing room continues to grow. It's not only deserving, but appropriate, that we put an 'A' on his shirt."
Noonan has appeared in 91 career games for the Terriers and has 52 points on 23 goals and 29 assists. This season, the blueliner ranks tied for fifth on the team with 10 points (3g, 7a). He will be the lone junior amongst the team's group of captains, as Megan and Ruikka are both seniors.
The sixth-ranked Terriers posted a 10-5-0 record in the first half and are on their annual break for finals and the holidays. They will begin their second half on Saturday, Dec. 29, at No. 10/11 Denver in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game.
