The Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality announced today that Mr. Rob Bremner has been hired as the new Chief Administrative Officer replacing departing CAO Byron Johnson.  Mr. Bremner will begin his duties on August 13th.

Mr. Bremner was formerly CAO in Tofino and Sechelt.  He has an extensive background in parks and recreation administration.  Originally from Ontario, he coached hockey in Vernon B.C in the early 90s, before coaching professional hockey in Texas and Louisiana and then entered municipal parks and recreation in Dryden, Ontario.  He was Director of Parks and Recreation in Dawson Creek from 2005 to 2008.

Mayor Al Raine indicated that “We were pleased with the quality of applicants and extremely happy to be able to select someone with Rob’s qualification and enthusiasm”.

Mr. Bremner and family will be moving to Sun Peaks in early August.  “We are excited about this opportunity and we are looking forward to joining the Sun Peaks community” said Bremner.  “My wife and I enjoy skiing and our son is keen on snowboarding” he added.  “This is a community built on recreational tourism and with my experience in tourism communities and recreation,  Sun Peaks is the perfect fit for our family”.

After two years in Sun Peaks, Byron Johnson is returning to Quesnel as CAO for the village.  “I have enjoyed the past two years. The Mayor and Council have been great to work with” said Johnson. “The challenge of setting up a new municipality was a great experience,” added Johnson.
