Former Vernon Vipers forward Mike Collins scored twice and added one assist in
Merrimacks 3-2 win over New Hampshire. Collins is one of seventy seven players
up for this years Hobey Baker Award. The Hobey Baker Award is an annual award
given to the top National Collegiate Athletic Association men's ice hockey
player. Collins is in his third season at Merrimack College. In 25 games this
season Collins has (13-17-30). Collins played two season's in Vernon (2008-2010)
In 119 regular season games with the Vipers Collins recorded (55-71-126)

Mike Collins Named Hockey East Co-Player Of The Week

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Junior forward Mike Collins (Boston, MA) was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week Monday. Collins will share the award with Jon Swavely of Maine.
Collins led the Warriors on Friday night to the 3-2 victory over #4 UNH with two goals, an assist and a +2 rating, his fifth three-point game of the season. On Saturday vs. #4 UNH at the Verizon Wireless Arena, Collins was held off the score sheet for only the eighth time in 25 games.
The junior has nine points in his last five conference games and has racked up a team-high 25 points in 16 conference matchups. His 1.56 points per game in conference play is tops in Hockey East.
Merrimack (10-10-5, 8-6-2 HEA) will return home on Friday to take on the #12/13 UMass Lowell RiverHawks at 7:00 p.m. The game will be aired live on NESN. Limited tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.merrimackathletics.com or by calling the box office at 978-837-5324.
