The Trail Smoke Eaters have traded former Vernon Vipers defenceman Max Mowat to the AJHL Okotoks Oilers for forward Connor Collett. Mowat who is from Vernon, BC played parts of three seasons with the Vipers (2008-2012) before being traded to Trail on June, 4th as part of the future considerations in a trade between these two teams last year. On 80 games with the Vipers Mowat collected (3-22-25). At last year's BCHL trade deadline the Vipers aquired forward Clayton Chessa from the Smokies for future considerations before trading Chessa to Nanaimo for forward Colton Cyr for future considerations. Mowat was suspended by the Smoke Eaters after failing to report for training camp.

The Okotoks Oilers have moved 19-year old forward Connor Collett to the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL for 19-year old defenseman Max Mowat.
Connor Collett played the past two seasons with the Oilers and recorded 22 goals and 55 points in 114 career games played.
“Connor is a great kid, and was a positive influence on and off the ice for the Oilers in his two seasons. The Oilers organization would like to thank Connor for his commitment to the Oilers program and wish him all the best in his new opportunity with Trail.”
Max Mowat, from Vernon BC, played the previous two seasons with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. In 80 games played with the Vipers, Mowat recorded 25 points and 44 penalty minutes.
“The Oilers would like to welcome Max to the organization and look forward to his contributions on & off the ice. We feel Max will solidify an already solid blue-line while also bringing BCHL championship & RBC Cup experience to the Oilers program.”
