PASTOR DON GOES TO CAMP

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

This past week, our team chaplain, Pastor Don Richmond conducted chapels at a Christian hockey camp up in Williams Lake.

This camp is run by Hockey Ministries International, a Christian Hockey Ministry based out of Montreal.  The camp ran from Sunday evening through to Friday afternoon, with two daily on-ice sessions, dry land training, and a class room session.  Some campers stayed in their homes overnight, while others stayed overnight in dorms at a local school.

Each evening was wrapped up with a chapel session, which Pastor Don coordinated. The on-ice instructors for the week were Stacey Bauman from Oklahoma City and Alex Pirus from Chicago.  Stacey played semi pro hockey, and Alex played in the '70's for the Minnesota North Stars.

Thursday at hockey camp was a very special day as Montreal Canadiens All-Star goaltender Carey Price spent the day on the ice with the campers, conducted a question and answer session, and signed autographs.

This was the 3rd year for the Williams Lake camp; a wonderful opportunity for young hockey players to learn hockey skills, life lessons, and about life altering faith in Christ.

(Pastor Don will be hosting his 4th Annual Faith Night in February 2013!  Also, stay tuned for Pastor Don's 2nd Annual Stuff The Arena Turkey Drive happening in December 2012!)
