After hearing about the Vipers-Spruce Kings trade tonight, you have to wonder who will fill Bennett Hambrooks spot? With Hambrook gone the Vipers are now down to 22 players and six defenceman, Adam Thompson, Steve Weinstein, Brett Corkey, Philip Patenaude, Elliott Richardson, Malcolm Lyles & dont forget "AP" Taylor Love. Will Love be the guy that takes over Hambrooks spot? Will Mark Ferner go with seven d-men? Or will he try and add another forward? Defenceman Max Mowat, a 17-year-old Vernon product, was a late cut by the WHL Kamloops Blazers last week. Rumor was he would join a BCHL team. Will The Vipers try and land the local kid? Time will tell I guess.
I really like the looks of Taylor Love, he looked pretty good in the Vipers blue & white game but has really impressed me over the weekend in his two games vs Penticton. Friday night in Penticton Love played very physical, dishing out several good checks tonight, looked very good defensively and played his position very well. Didnt look out of place at all. It will be interesting to see what they do with this kid.
For all you PG fans Im sorry but I cant give you much info on Bennett Hambrook other then his stats and what was said in the article on the trade posted on the Spruce Kings website. Hambrook attended the Vipers training camp last yeat but was cut. This season Bennett didnt really stand out in my mind during the Vipers two blue & white games. In the three games Hambrook played with the Vipers this season, once again he didnt really stand out in my opinion. Im not saying the kid was bad or anything, he just didnt catch my eye. At just 18 years old with some decent size I would have like to watch this kid a little more.
It will be very interesting to see who fills Bennett Hambrooks spot.
I wish Bennett all the best in Prince George.
