Lord Returns for Third Season

Sep 7, 2010

Wheeling, WV - One of the most popular players in Nailers history will be coming back to Wheeling for his third season of professional hockey as Andrew Lord has signed for the 2010-2011 season.

Lord has been one of the steadiest Nailers the past two seasons playing in a combined 139 games, the most of anyone on the Wheeling squad in that span. He finished the 2009-2010 season with his first call-up to the AHL playing three games for the Rochester Americans which included his first three AHL fights.

Last year the big center from West Vancouver, BC finished with 17 goals and 19 assists as well as 185 penalty minutes. Lord finished 2nd in the ECHL in major penalties with 21 and was honored as the team's Most Valuable Player. He also wore the "C" on his jersey and served as the team's captain for the last several weeks of the season.

"I'm very excited to return to the Nailers for a third season." said Lord. "The Brooks brother's and the entire Nailers organization have been great to me the past two seasons. Also, our fans are unbelievable and I have made so many great friends in the Wheeling community. I'm hungry to bring a winning team to the fans and city this year. I'm looking forward to October."

The 25 year old came to the Nailers following a four year career at R.P.I. (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) in Troy, NY. Prior to that he had played three seasons in the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League) including two with the Vernon Vipers.
