by viper staff Added 2009-10-01
Kellen an Connor Jones returned from Team Canada West's Evaluation Camp and both are excited anxious to find out if they made the cut for the 2009 World Junior A Challenge. We had a chance to talk to Kellen Jones about the experience.
What was camp tryouts like?
It was really great. It was fun and very competitive. Everyone was there to make the team and it was pretty intense.
What is it like playing with some other BCHL players instead of against them?
All the players there are talented and deserve to be there so it was great to play with them and play such high intensity hockey. But we will be ready to play against them in our upcoming games!
Best moment?
It would probably be getting an assist on both gaming winning goals in the two games that we won, it was pretty exciting.
When do you find out if you made the team?
We were told we would find out in a couple weeks. We are both pretty excited to find out and would like to know now but we will have to wait. It's hard to say what are chances are since there can only be 5 players born in 1990, but we are pretty optimistic and hope we make it. Connor and I played really well together and did our best.
This weekend the Vipers play a road game Friday night in Westside and then have two home games Saturday versus Penticton and Sunday afternoon against Burnaby, what are your thoughts on the 3 weekend games?
I think this will be the teams biggest test so far. Penticton and Westside are the top teams in our division with us and Burnaby is the top team in there division. I think it is going to be important for us to get six points out of the weekend, but it will be a challenge.
What should fans expect this weekend?
Well against Penticton I think it's going to be intense like a playoff game. We haven't played them since the playoffs last year when we beat them so I think they are really going to challenge us. It should be a pretty quick game. I don't know much about the Burnaby team, but obviously they are doing quite well and it should be another intense game.
