Camrose, Alberta announced as 2011 RBC Cup host city

Hockey Canada announced on Monday that Camrose, Alta., will host the 2011 RBC Cup, Canada’s National Junior A Championship.
The Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League will serve as the tournament’s host team. The 2011 RBC Cup will be held in May 2011 with the Kodiaks and four regional champions facing off for the 41st national championship.
The Kodiaks have been one of Canadian Junior A hockey’s most successful teams over the past decade, appearing in five national championships (2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008). The team won the 2001 championship in Flin Flon, Man., and made championship game appearances in 2003, 2005 and 2008.
“We are extremely excited and honoured to have the privilege of hosting the 2011 RBC Cup,” says Barry Fossen, president of the Camrose Kodiaks. “This is a time for celebration for the community of Camrose, our volunteers, sponsors, billets, fans, and organization. We will make this the best ever RBC Cup in history, there is no doubt in my mind!" The 2011 RBC Cup will mark the fourth time the tournament is held in Alberta since it went to its current five-team format in 1990, and the first since Grande Prairie played host in 2004. Fort McMurray (2000) and Olds (1994) have also hosted the National Junior A Championship.
