Vernon (3-0-0) @ Westside (0-1-0)
Tonight is the end of a home and home exibition series between the Vernon Vipers & Westside Warriors. Last night the Vipers defeated the Warriors 6-3 on home ice. Tonight is the fourth and final game of the exibition season for Vernon, as the Warriors are playing their second of five games in six nights. Vernon is looking to go 4-0 in the pre season, as Westside is going for its first win of the exibition season. Vernon is loaded up front offensively scoring 21 goals in its first three exibition games, while giving up just 8 goals. The Vipers have lots of depth and speed up front with some strong goaltending in returning veteran goaltender, Graeme Gordon. The Vipers have just four returning d-men from last years RBC Cup winning team but have improved on the backend with adding veteran d-man Dan Nycholat and new recruit, Garrett Noonan who looks to be filling in nicely. Westside has 13 players returning from last years club (Trevor Bailey, Grayson Downing, Brendan Ellis, Quinn Gould, Alex, Grieve, Tyler Krause, Vince Mihalek, Michael Quinn, Cam Reid, Justin Schultz, Kyle Singleton, Joel Woznikozski, & Kevin Jebson)
Here's a look at last night's game:
The Warriors had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but couldnt hold on as the Vipers opened the scoring in the 3rd pocketing three goals in just over three minutes going onto the 6-3 victory. Kellen Jones, Cole Ikkala, Jesse Halikas, Connor Jones, Drew George & Dylan Walchuk scored for Vernon. Tyler Krause, Anthony Fadel & Chris Volonino scored for Westside. Graeme Gordon & Tyler Steel split the goaltending duties for the Vipers picking up the win, while Michael Smith played very well keeping the Warriors in the hockey game, but ended up suffering the loss making 37 saves.
