(Game Preview) Vernon @ Salmon Arm:

Vernon (1-0-0) @ Salmon Arm (0-1-0)

Tonight is the back of a home and home series between two Okanagan rivals who don’t like one another. Last night the Vipers raised their 2009 RBC Cup banner to the rafters during their home opener in a 3-2 victory over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Vernon carried the better of the play before Salmon Arm picked up their game in the final period to make for a very entertaining finish. The Silverbacks are going to have to watch all four of the Vipers lines as they have a ton of speed, skill and depth up front. Salmon Arm needs more shots on Graeme Gordon, with just 12 shots on net after the first two periods its pretty hard to win hockey games. The Vipers are going to have to get a lot of pucks and traffic towards Tony Ierfino who gave the Backs a chance to win last night (39 saves) Ierfino is very strong gloveside and high, as the Vipers need to shoot low on this kid, get him moving side to side. Both teams I think would agree, need some work on the powerplay, Salmon Arm went 1-3 while Vernon went 0-5 with the man advantage last night.
