It was truly a battle between David and Goliath! The Vernon Vipers, the number one team in the BCHL vs the Salmon Arm Silverbacks who sit in last place in the Interior Division. It was also the last game of 2017 and the final regular season meeting between the two rivals.
The Vernon Vipers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead over the Silverbacks and limited their opposition to just 11 shots in the first two periods of play. The Vipers even jumped out to a 3-1 lead midway thru the 3rd period.
Not sure if the Snakes took the foot off the gas or the Silverbacks just wanted it more…but the S’backs scored three unanswered goals in a 5 minute span to squeek past the Vipers 4-3. They would hold on to win their 13th game of the season and move 4 points back of the Merritt Centennials.
