The American Hockey League San Jose Barracuda have invited
former Vernon Viper forward Marcus Basara to training camp.
Basara finished his fourth and final year at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks last season, signed his first professional contract with the East Coast Hockey League Allen Americans August 24th 2017, before being invited to the Barracuda training camp in September.
Basara played parts of the two seasons in Vernon (2010-2012) before being traded along with Connor Hartley & future considerations to the Alberta Junior Hockey League Okotoks Oilers on November, 28th 2011 for Ben Gamache. Basara would finish his junior career with the West Kelowna Warriors. In 80 games with the Vipers Basara collected (18-goals-27-assists-45-points).

SAN JOSE - The 2016-17 Pacific Division champion San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), today announced the schedule for their 2017 Training Camp, which will be held at Solar4America Ice at San Jose. The schedule is subject to change without notice. Camp opens on Monday, Sept 25, and all players on the current Barracuda roster will be made available to the media following the conclusion of each practice.
Head Coach Roy Sommer and Assistant Coach Ryan Mougenel will also be made available following each practice and each game.
Those media members seeking specific players should check with Barracuda Media Relations Manager Nick Nollenberger in advance for the best time to gain access to individuals as it will likely change.

The Barracuda have invited five players from its ECHL affiliate the Allen Americans (@AllenAmericans) to participate in AHL training camp under tryout contracts, Jaynen Rissling, Marcus Basara, Josh Thrower, Vincent Areneau, and Olivier Archambault have all been signed

Game #1 - Thursday, Sept. 28 Barracuda at Bakersfield (6:30 PM)
Game #2 - Saturday, Sept. 30 Stockton at Barracuda (1:30 PM)
The Barracuda open the 2017-18 regular season on the road at Stockton on Oct. 7 (7 PM), before welcoming the defending Calder Cup Champion Grand Rapids Griffins to SAP Center for the home opener on Oct.13, which will feature $1 hot dogs, and $2 beers, along with a Pacific Division banner-raising ceremony prior to puck drop.
