Fans have been lining up to get tickets for the final Junior A game at the Vernon Civic Arena next month.
The Vipers will host Prince George Spruce Kings Jan 6 at 6 pm.
Todd Miller from the Vipers says there’s been a lot of interest in the game since it was announced last week.
“It’s getting a ton of attention and there is a big lineup here this morning. Our marketing manager said it felt a lot like playoffs this morning, so there is lots of excitement around our office and around the city,” Miller told Kiss FM.
Miller says there first person in line was at 7:45 am, with the tickets going on sale at 9 am.
“We don’t get that kind of attention that often, unless it’s a playoff game.”
About 1-thousand tickets will be sold for the game which will be held on the 80th anniversary of the first event at the arena.
Another 1,100 are being set aside for season ticket holders.
Todd Miller from the Vipers says 250 tickets are left.
They started the day with 1,000.
“It looks like we will sell out by the end of the week. If we do, there is a chance we will sell some tickets on the day of the game, so we encourage people to contact our office once we do sell out to get their name on a list,” Miller tells Kiss FM.
It will be a benefit to the North Okanagan Youth and Family Service Society.
The city plans to tear down the building once a new arena opens at Kal Tire Place next fall.
