Tonight was just the third Vipers game I have missed in Salmon Arm since 2001. The Silverbacks joined the league in 2001. I missed two Viper games in Salmon Arm prior to tonight (2001 & 2006).
Due to the weather, snow and road conditions, I decided to stay home tonight and watch the game online.
This was a very entertaining hockey game until the Vipers put the game away in the 3rd. I thought the Snakes had several quality chances in the 1st were the better of the two teams. But it was Salmon Arm who responded with a solid 2nd period, were the better team in the middle frame, couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. In the 3rd Vernon scored twice early putting the game away with four third period goals.
The Silverbacks held their own at times and gave the Vipers a good push. The Vipers have now won five straight and eight of their last ten, while the Backs have lost eight straight, have one win in their last eleven games.
These two teams will meet again tomorrow in Vernon for the final time this season. The Snakes lead the regular season series 5-0
