Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of Desmond Johnson.

Johnson is from Windsor, Ontario and played last season with the Chicago Mission U18 team.  He had 4 goals and 7 assists in 14 games played.

“Desmond is a right shot defenceman that skates extremely well and plays with great anticipation,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.

Johnson had a very solid Macs Tournament this past season with 4 assists in 4 games.

Johnson sounds good on paper. The kid has some size, one thing I noticed he didn't played a lot of hockey last year. One thing I noticed is all four new committed players are defencemen. With the addition of Johnson, that puts the Vipers with a possible eight d-men and a possible total of twenty one players (That's if everyone returns that is eligible to return). Will we see the Vipers announce more committed players? And will we see any off season trades? I haven't looked but I think the Vipers made some trades last year regarding "future considerations" Will we hear who those "future considerations" are, coming or going?
