Cents Forward David Sabey Requests Trade:
F David Sabey (91) won't be back with the Centennials this season after requesting a trade from the team.
Sabey, who was one of six 20-year-olds on the Cents roster, volunteered to help Coach & GM Luke Pierce with his 1991-born player crunch and be moved to another team.
Earlier this off-season, D Kam Crawford (91) did the same thing in requesting a trade because of the Cents 20-year-old situation. He subsequently went on to try out with the NAHL's Wenatchee Wild and was a late cut last week. Crawford is currently looking for a place to play this season after being told by Luke that there wasn't room for him on the blueline in Merritt.
The Centennials hold the junior 'A' rights to both Sabey and Crawford and they aren't able to play with any other team in the CJHL without being traded or released.
With Sabey's departure, the Cents have room to add one more 20-year-old. They're one below the BCHL limit of six with Evan Stack, Billy Marshall, Lino Chimienti, Chad Brears and Steve Wall.
