(Vernon)—The Vernon Vipers are pleased name their assistant captains for the 2011-2012 season.
The players selected by the coaching staff who will join Captain Patrick McGillis this season are as follows:
Brett Corkey: The product of Calgary is in second season with the Vipers. Fresh off an appearance at the Canada West evaluation camp the 5’11 185 pound defenceman is expected to be one of the major contributors on the back end this season.
Mike Zalewski: Entering his second season with the Vipers, Mike is expected to be one of the leaders both on and off the ice. In his first season in the BCHL Zaleweski had 29 pts in 46 Games.
Aaron Hadley: Another Viper entering his sophomore season, Hadley (Castlegar BC) is one of 10 BC products on the Vernon roster and one of 11 returnees. Selected by the coaching staff for his on ice and off ice leadership is expected to be a big part of the club this season.
The defending BCHL Champions open the regular season Friday September 23rd vs the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 7pm at Wesbild Center.
The Vipers would like to remind fans to be in attendance early on Friday night for the pre-game festivities prior to home opener 2011.
