Vipers hosting Showcase
Published: July 27, 2010
Summer is barely half over, but minds are already turning towards the next B.C. Hockey League season.
With a fresh sheet of ice at Wesbild Centre, around 90 prospects will display their talent in front of junior, college and professional scouts at the inaugural Sun Valley Showcase, which starts today and ends Saturday.
Hosted by Vernon Viper coaches Mark Ferner and Jason Williamson, the Showcase will divide players into five teams to play one another in a round-robin. Teams also get practice sessions and seminars.
“It’s a showcase to for these kids to get scouted by not only BCHL, but also junior B, NCAA and WHL scouts,” said Williamson. “There’s even going to be a few NHL scouts there.”
Williamson added the Showcase also means good exposure for Vernon, and for the Vipers.
Games and practices are running daily.
