BC Hockey Rule Change Okays AP Status For Okanagan HA Midget Athletes:

BC Hockey rule change okays AP status for Okanagan HA Midget athletes

Monday, July 5, 2010 - Submitted by Okanagan Hockey Academy

The Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) announced today that players in the academy's Midget program are now eligible to AP (affiliate player) with Junior A and Junior B teams. BC Hockey approved OHA’s request to have their 15, 16 and 17-year old players from within their Midget program be eligible to AP with Junior B and Junior A teams.

“This is a major step forward for us and for our players,” said Andy Oakes. “With this development, we will now have the ability to evaluate our top Midget players at a higher level, which is something we haven’t been able to do in the past.”

The new rule, which applies to the BC resident players in the program only, will take effect for the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.
