Maybe this will create some stability in the organization.

First off congratulations Dean! Your hockey knowledge, Skills and attention to detail will pay off in my opinion immediately.
I’m hoping ownership will give you autonomy and allow you to do your job as their track record isn’t favourable.
I am looking forward to coming back to the rink and watching some hockey, the boys are very fortunate to have you there!!
Good luck

Agree. Will be interesting to watch this unfold. The best business people hire smart, qualified employees and then let them do what they were hired for while staying out of the way. Seems that has been impossible so far with this ownership but let’s hope!

I think this is a great hiring and other then firing Jason McKee last season, the biggest move this ownership group has made since buying the team in 2018.

I have heard nothing but great things about McAmmond, lets hope his knowledge, experience and leadership can turn this team around. I do think this move is a little late in the season and a coaching move or adding in a guy like McAmmond should have been done one or two months ago. No offence to Lomicky but he hasn't gotten the job done, players coming and going or not the Vipers haven't improved most of the season and lets face it, ten wins in late January doesn't cut it. This team has been a complete disaster this year.

I do think this hiring will help the Vipers more for next season and the future as I'm sure McAmmond has some contacts, as the Vipers desperately need better scouting/recruiting and help behind the bench. With the way the team has struggled this season, players coming and going almost weekly and time running out on the season, I think the season is over and the Vipers won't make the playoffs. For a team with only ten wins, would have to go on a large streak to end the season, when most teams are ramping up for the playoffs, I just don't see that happening, especially with the team they have this season.

Can McAmmond save the season and the Vipers? Only time will tell

Let's be real here. He is the assistant coach. The same guys are still running the circus...

Can McAmmond save the season and vipers ? He was hired as assistant coach . Assistants do not trump the head coach and make decisions .
Perhaps Lomicky is gone at season end ? Then McAmmond might be able to
Change things .

I agree. I think he takes over the reigns next season. He's using this time to take inventory of the business and build rapport etc.

An interesting hire and a very good one IF he is allowed to contribute his input. I do not know Dean but watched him as an NHL player and he always impressed me as a skilled/productive player who was also a class act. I have heard him speak at his church and he comes off as a person of class and integrity. I wish him all the best and hope he has a positive effect on this troubled organization. If, however, he is smothered by an oppressive owner I can see this being a short term job. I hope before he agreed to this position that he took the time to speak with Colton Sparrow, after all he is putting his reputation on the line. The old adage comes to mind... "If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas".

McAmmond does not have a wealth of coaching experience yet. It looks like he was Assistant Coach with North Okanagan Junior B in 2018-19 where they had a 16-32 record in 49 games and as the Head Coach in 2019-20 with a 13-30 record in 49 games. We all know that being a good professional player does not necessarily equate to being a good coach. Regardless, I am not trying to be negative rather just being cautiously optimistic that we will see positive change in the Viper Den. Welcome aboard Dean.

Can he save the Vipers? No pressure Dean but you have been anointed the savior. Please people, let's be realistic with our expectations, he is an "assistant" to a coach with a poor record and an "employee" of an overbearing owner, he can't walk on water.
