Did you listen to the game on the radio or watch it on flo hockey?
What did you think of tonight's Vipers-Saints game? What are your comments/opinion on the game?
I watched the Vipers game online this evening. Two teams near the bottom of the standings fighting for a playoff spot and the Saints get the upper hand with the victory. This was a pretty good/entertaining hockey game as I thought both teams were fairly even. Both teams were better at times and had a bit more edge in play but overall it was a close game. Ryan De Kok was solid in goal for the Saints in the 3rd. For two teams playing each other for the first time, it was sure a chippy/feisty game. Both games this weekend were feisty/chippy. The Vipers PP struggles going 2-6 The Saints snap a five game losing streak. Vernon & Spruce Grove are fighting for a playoff spot. The Saints are tied in points with Okotoks for the final playoff spot, while the Vipers are five points out. For a team trying to make the playoffs, they are really struggling with two wins in there last eleven games and have lost twelve of there last seventeen games. The Grant Fuhr arena reminds me a lot like Merritt's arena. I really like the Saints jerseys, one of the best in the BCHL.
Terrible coaching. Same kids out for full power plays because one player (Blanck) has been able to score a couple of pp goals. What message does that send to the rest of the players? Same group out with 1:30 left in the game, same result. At some point we can't keep blaming the players. So many personnel changes and poor coaching is what's killing this team. Watch other teams that are winning...players make unselfish plays and play for each other and commit to team defense. It's not just about skating fast and shooting like these coaches think it is.
The vernon vipers have had a difficult first half of the hockey season. It has been very challenging for the coaching staff and for the players . Trying to gel as a team with the constant revolving door of players has made in extremely hard to form a team that works together and has a belief in each other. I am hoping in the future this new league will have worked out the bugs and will have a solid foundation of rules in place which works for the players and the coaching staff. I think until this happens we will see more of the same for the new league. I think as fans we must hope that change is coming for the benefit of us as fans. Anyway a good game by the vipers but a tough loss.. GO, VIPERS, GO.
Talk about over playing your players, Bilic barely gets to see the ice anymore since the arrival of Kykkanen. Unfortunately I can't see the Vipers winning anymore than 2 or 3 games the rest of the season so the season is basically over in my opinion.
You can't seriously be thinking it's not the head coaches fault. Lomicky and John caused this turmoil with all the sign and release BEFORE the NCAA rule changes. Lomicky hired his buddy as an athletic therapist, went with 2 coaches (him and Sparrow) and got super lucky that Morisette agreed to come back. Are the rule changes to blame for Sparrow bolting as well? Find somebody who actually knows what goes on behind the scenes to tell you how this organization is run. Stop drinking the kool-aid.
Well, as they say “the proof is in the pudding”, lots of changes, same result!
Vernon Velcros, quote “Don’t buy anything made from velcro, it’s a total rip-off!”
Sad to see these coaches ruin the season for these young men. I know a couple of the former Velcros players and Lomicky is THE reason they left. Unapproachable, poor communication skills and obviously a terrible bench boss. No feel for in game adjustments leads to this disaster of a season. Lies in the recruiting process and blames players for the results we see every week. But, fret not. A new week is upon us so we should get 4-6 new players.
The Vipers biggest mistake was getting rid of Mark Ferner. They had one of the greatest coaches in Junior hockey and figured Jason McKee was a better fit.
hanging on to the past is going to kill you guys, “forget about it” already!
Which players?
I know a billet family who has had multiple players this year and all are gone for the same reason. So I'll guess 90% of the players that have gone are the result of coaching
Still no names
Who would be dumb enough to list the names and jeopardize the kids’ futures. Seems the number of kids that left lends credibility to the statement.
45 players have worn the Vernon jersey this season. What are the odds on it hitting 50?
Yes, but “I know a few former players”, or the old ‘my sources’ crap doesn’t lend a ton of credibility to the post. Been too much gossip and made up stuff this year.
We’re getting to a point where the players may not want to incur the cost and trouble of moving and may just ride out the season. But the way this year has gone, I’d bet 50 is likely.
Billet family relays the same type of info. Players who had big roles walked away. Revolving door of players all seem to support the statement. Not naming specific players to protect them is admirable. Why make that up?
Respectfully, there have been a ton of made up ‘facts’ on this board the last few months. Personally, I think any player or billet family who talks trash in hush hush circles should be brave enough to admit it and be called out. They’re not helping anyone.
Fair enough. But why subject a player to the repercussions of a true statement. If you’ve ever been involved with hockey you know that coaches/orgs can retaliate against a player in a number of ways. Simply looking at the turnover this season with players and now coaches all point to problems with leadership, on and off the ice. It seems obvious.
